RPF launches digital system to forecast and manage high-footfall station events

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has introduced a digital system named 'DS-12 E-Forecasting Register of High-Footfall Events' (EFRR) to manage potentially crowded gatherings at railway stations. The system will maintain records of events from 2022 onwards, including festivals, religious gatherings, melas, examinations, political programmes, and sporting events.
The digital repository aims to enable timely manpower deployment, regulate passenger movement, and coordinate with state police to prevent incidents. An RPF headquarters order issued on September 17, 2026, directed senior zonal security officials to operationalise the EFRR immediately and ensure data entry of forthcoming high-footfall events.
The move follows recent crowd-related incidents and reflects a shift from reactive to proactive, data-driven security management. The directive emphasized that advance forecasting and proper assessment of passenger movement are essential to enhance preparedness and prevent untoward situations at railway stations.
