Russian Supply Disruptions Push Yellow Pea and Sunflower Oil Prices Higher in India

Russia's ongoing conflicts are disrupting supplies of yellow peas and sunflower oil to India, pushing prices upward and creating availability concerns. Yellow pea prices have climbed from ₹40 to ₹46 per kilogramme over the past two months as Russian shipments have slowed significantly, according to importers.
Sunflower oil shipments from Russia have also faced obstacles due to the Black Sea situation. Traders expect prices for the commodity to rise further as supply constraints persist.
India relies substantially on Russian imports for both products. The supply disruption underscores the vulnerability of India's commodity imports to geopolitical tensions and may put upward pressure on domestic food prices in the coming weeks.
