Top marathon runner Ruti Aga handed doping ban over fake prescription

Ruti Aga, who won the Tokyo Marathon in 2019 and finished on the podium at the Berlin and New York Marathons, has been banned for doping.

She tested positive for the banned substance methylprednisolone. The ban followed the submission of a fake prescription.

The case adds to recent scrutiny of doping in long-distance running.
