Supreme Court stays order barring MLAs from voting as ex officio members in Himachal local polls

The Supreme Court has stayed an order that would have deprived MLAs of their voting rights as ex officio members in Himachal Pradesh local body elections. The Court clarified that votes cast by MLAs in the election will be subject to the final outcome of proceedings in the high court.
The development comes as the state prepares for local body elections where the status of MLAs' participation has been contested. The Supreme Court's interim order allows MLAs to continue voting while the legal challenge remains pending before the high court.
