School Porch Collapses During Independence Day Event in Sambhal, 8-Year-Old Killed

A tragic accident marred Independence Day celebrations in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal on Saturday when a school porch suddenly collapsed. The incident occurred at Al-Hasan Public School in Madala Fatehpur village during the morning flag-hoisting ceremony and cultural programme.

Children from nearby homes had climbed onto the porch above the school's main gate to watch the event when the structure gave way under the excess weight. Eight-year-old Nizam, son of Naeem, was killed in the collapse, while two other children — Saif Ali (11) and Shaidana (10) — sustained injuries. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police visited the site and issued necessary directives. The deceased child's family declined post-mortem examination.
