Sebi permits foreign portfolio investors to trade non-agri commodity derivatives
The Securities and Exchange Board of India has cleared new regulations enabling foreign portfolio investors to participate in non-agricultural commodity derivatives markets. The move is intended to boost institutional participation and modernise portfolio manager regulations.
The approved framework will define delivery structures for futures contracts to address operational and tax-related challenges. Sebi also introduced reforms to streamline settlement procedures and reduce compliance requirements for research entities.
