Shobhaa De Falls Asleep Watching Mirzapur: The Movie, Calls It Poorly Made

Author and columnist Shobhaa De posted a scathing review of Mirzapur: The Movie on Instagram after watching it in theatres. Despite entering with high expectations due to franchise hype, she found the film disappointing and confusing, questioning whether it should have been made at all.
While praising Ravi Kishan and Ali Fazal's performances, De criticised Pankaj Tripathi for repetitive acting, excessive violence, and a disjointed narrative. She revealed falling asleep for approximately 15 minutes during the screening and heard other viewers snoring, suggesting the film may appeal primarily to male audiences.
De spent ₹900 on a theatre ticket for the experience. The film, released September 4, has crossed ₹200 crore worldwide despite mixed audience reactions.
