Sri Lanka chase down 430 to stun England in epic ODI tri-series clash despite Harry Brook's double century

Sri Lanka produced a remarkable win over England in the third match of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series 2026 in Rawalpindi on Thursday, chasing down a target of 430 set after Harry Brook's double century took England to 429/4.
Brook smashed 202 off 116 deliveries, with 21 fours and 10 sixes, becoming the first English batter to score a double century in men's ODI cricket and registering the fastest ODI double century. Joe Root made 69 off 66 balls, and Will Jacks was unbeaten on 66 off 30.
Sri Lanka lost two early wickets, but Avishka Fernando (97 off 83 balls) and Pavan Rathnayake (130 off 106 balls) rebuilt the innings with a crucial partnership. Dasun Shanaka then struck 97 off 50 balls, including eight sixes, to swing the momentum.
Janith Liyanage's unbeaten half-century in the closing overs completed the chase. The result gives Sri Lanka the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history, behind South Africa's 438/9 against Australia in Johannesburg in 2006.
