Sonay Kartal reaches first WTA 1000 final at Wuhan Open

British tennis player Sonay Kartal has reached her first WTA 1000 final after defeating Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets at the Wuhan Open semifinals.

The victory marks a significant milestone in Kartal's career, as she becomes the lowest-ranked player to reach a final at this tier of competition. Her win over the experienced Ostapenko demonstrates her growing prowess on the professional circuit.

Kartal will now compete in the final round of the prestigious Wuhan Open, one of the highest-level tournaments on the WTA calendar.
