Sugar prices rise as UP mills resist rate cuts

Sugar prices at the mill level have increased this week as factories resist lowering their quotes. Mills in Uttar Pradesh have been reluctant to cut rates, and their counterparts in Maharashtra have followed suit, raising prices by over 2%.
The firmer stance by producers in both states is putting upward pressure on the sugar market. The resistance to rate reductions reflects efforts by mills to maintain profitability amid market conditions.
