Supongmeren launches Ayurveda Day programme for medicinal plant cultivation in Nagaland

The 11th Ayurveda Day programme was held at Vihokhu village, Niuland, on Wednesday to launch distribution and cultivation of Piper longum and Piper retrofractum across Nagaland in collaboration with Dabur India Ltd.
Lok Sabha MP and NPCC president S. Supongmeren Jamir said the initiative would encourage farmers to cultivate medicinal plants for livelihood while reviving traditional knowledge. The project spans three districts—Zunheboto, Mon and Niuland—where climate conditions favour these crops. Jamir noted that Nagaland's climate is suitable for cultivation and highlighted Dabur's commitment to procure the produce, ensuring farmers have assured market outlets.
Jamir urged farmers and younger generations to participate at scale. He stressed the importance of district administration, police and officials collaborating to make the pilot project successful, expressing hope that its success in Niuland could inspire similar initiatives across other districts.
