Supreme Court rejects Abu Salem's plea for early release

The Supreme Court has rejected a plea by gangster Abu Salem seeking early release from prison. Salem had argued that he had completed 25 years of imprisonment in India, citing the terms of his 2005 extradition from Portugal as grounds for his release.
The gangster's petition contended that the completion of this period should entitle him to early release or reconsideration of his sentence. However, the apex court turned down his request, upholding the conditions of his original extradition and imprisonment.
