Tamil Nadu CM Vijay orders drone surveys of infrastructure ahead of northeast monsoon

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has directed district officials to conduct drone surveys of roads, stormwater drains, and bridges ahead of the northeast monsoon season, with maintenance work to follow. During a secretariat review meeting, he instructed officials to identify areas vulnerable to sea-water intrusion, coastal erosion, and flooding, and to ensure weather warnings reach people promptly.
Vijay ordered disaster preparedness measures including evacuation protocols for vulnerable populations and fishermen, readiness of relief shelters with supplies, and pre-positioned emergency response teams with boats, generators, and communication equipment. He also directed protection of harvested paddy in warehouses during rainfall.
Separately, the CM has instructed district officials to intensify dengue prevention efforts by identifying high-risk areas, deploying breeding checkers for door-to-door inspections, eliminating Aedes mosquito breeding sites, and conducting larval-control measures. Government hospitals and primary health centres have been directed to strengthen early detection and treatment capabilities for dengue cases.
