Tata Sons cites ex-CJI legal opinion in Chandrasekaran reappointment row

Tata Sons has invoked a legal opinion from a former Chief Justice of India to support N Chandrasekaran's reappointment as Tata Group Chairman, as the decision faces scrutiny. At a September 17 board meeting, Tata Sons directors voted in favour of Chandrasekaran's reappointment, with the company citing the ex-CJI's legal opinion in the matter.
Srinivasan joined three other board members in supporting the reappointment decision. The backing from the board majority signals internal consensus on Chandrasekaran's continued leadership of the conglomerate.
The company's reliance on the former Chief Justice's legal opinion underscores efforts to address concerns surrounding the reappointment process through external legal validation.
