Telangana to draft Rohith Vemula Bill within three months

The Telangana government has decided to draft a bill related to the Rohith Vemula case within three months. During a meeting, officials discussed securing technical and legal support from Nalsar University of Law to shape the proposed legislation.
Rohith Vemula, a research scholar at the University of Hyderabad, died by suicide in 2016, an incident that sparked widespread debate on caste discrimination and institutional accountability in higher education. The proposed bill aims to address concerns raised by the case.
The state government's move signals its commitment to legislating measures that may strengthen safeguards for students in educational institutions. The involvement of Nalsar University reflects the government's intent to ensure the bill is legally sound and technically robust before tabling it.
