Telangana's special summary revision excludes over 70 lakh voters

Telangana's special summary revision (SIR) process has significantly reduced the state's electorate from 3.38 crore to 2.65 crore voters. The revision has excluded over 70 lakh eligible voters from the rolls.
Among those included in the draft roll, 35 per cent have been flagged for "logical discrepancy," triggering concerns about the process's transparency and impartiality. The large number of flagged entries has raised questions about the fairness and motives underlying the electoral revision exercise.
The development has drawn scrutiny over whether the special summary revision is being conducted equitably and with proper safeguards.
