Telangana's groundwater levels show recovery trend in recent months

Telangana's groundwater levels have shown signs of improvement over recent months. The average depth to water level dropped from 9.26 metres below ground level (m bgl) in May 2026 to 7.87 m bgl in August, and further to 7.52 m bgl in September 2026.
This represents a notable recovery in the state's groundwater position, with levels rising closer to the surface over the three-month period from May to September 2026. The improvement suggests increased water availability in the subsurface during these months.
The data reflects seasonal and annual variations in groundwater recharge across the state, which typically sees changes tied to monsoon patterns and rainfall distribution.
