Telangana Home Guard Arrested for Assaulting Woman at Railway Station

A 36-year-old home guard, Kadiga Anand, was arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman at Hafeezpet railway station in Hyderabad on Friday night. The incident involved dragging the woman by her hair and slapping her. Anand, deputed to the Railway Protection Force, was removed from service following the arrest. Police said the woman, a ragpicker, had allegedly abused the home guard before the assault.
The case came to light after a video of the assault circulated on social media. Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh confirmed Anand's removal from service. DGP CV Anand stated that such behaviour could not be tolerated regardless of provocation. Anand was booked under Sections 74 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
