Government hospitals lack funds for safety inspections, equipment maintenance

The Telangana Government Doctors Association has raised concerns over safety lapses in government hospitals, attributing the issue to inadequate funding. The association said delays in releasing Aarogyasri scheme funds to hospitals are hampering essential maintenance work.
Key areas affected include upkeep of medical and biomedical equipment, electrical systems, fire-safety measures, and procurement of emergency materials. Without timely fund disbursement, hospitals are unable to conduct regular safety inspections and necessary repairs.
The association's statement underscores the critical link between government healthcare financing and hospital infrastructure standards.
