Telangana records 62 POCSO cases of boy abuse in nine months

Telangana has recorded 62 cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act involving the abuse of boys over a nine-month period, with 127 male child victims documented since 2024. Officials attribute a significant gap between reported and actual cases to social stigma and families' concerns about loss of family prestige.
The low reporting rate reflects deep-rooted social factors that discourage families from coming forward. Awareness campaigns and stronger community engagement are seen as essential to address the issue and encourage survivors to seek help.
