Telangana urges farmers to shift to less water-intensive crops for rabi season

The Telangana government has advised farmers to cultivate crops that require less water during the upcoming rabi season, citing anticipated water shortage in the state.
State Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao attributed the water scarcity to the continued effects of El Niño, a climate pattern that impacts rainfall and water availability across regions.
The advisory is part of the government's effort to help farmers adapt to water constraints while maintaining productivity during the rabi cropping period, which typically runs from October to March in Telangana.
