Toronto home sales plunge amid economic uncertainty
Home sales in the Greater Toronto Area experienced a sharp 5.2% decline in September compared to August, marking the steepest drop since February. The home price index also fell 0.5% month-over-month, while year-over-year sales declined by 9%.
New listings dropped by 14.4% during the same period. Analysts attribute the slowdown to economic uncertainty, with many buyers postponing purchases as they await stability in employment and inflation rates.
