Uber driver accused of kissing sleeping passenger in Bengaluru

An 18-year-old student has accused an Uber driver of hugging and kissing her on the lips after she fell asleep during a journey in Bengaluru. The incident occurred around 1:45 am on Sunday near Konanakunte Cross in Doddakallasandra. The victim woke to find the driver embracing and kissing her. When he allegedly attempted to kiss her again, she questioned him, and he initially denied the act before apologizing.
The victim booked the cab through a friend's phone around 1:25 am while returning to her grandmother's house from Deepanjali Nagar. She was seated in the front passenger seat with luggage in the rear. When she tried to exit the cab, the driver allegedly locked the doors and continued driving. After she screamed and banged on the window, the driver stopped and she got out, but he allegedly drove away with her luggage, which was later returned through the driver's associates.
The driver has been identified as Mohammed Waseem, 28 years old, a native of Kerala. Konanakunte police have registered a case of sexual harassment along with other sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The driver has not yet been detained.
