Left gains ground in Kerala local body bypolls, wrests seven UDF seats

The Left Democratic Front made significant gains in Kerala local body bypolls, wresting seven seats from the United Democratic Front. The LDF's performance included capturing two wards that had been vacated by sitting UDF MLAs, signalling a shift in voter preference at the grassroots level.

The results suggest potential challenges ahead for the Congress-led UDF alliance in Kerala, where local body elections often serve as indicators of political sentiment before state and national polls.
