UEFA chief cites need to repair trust after Infantino's FIFA World Cup plan blocked

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has emphasized the need to rebuild trust following the collapse of FIFA president Gianni Infantino's controversial plan to monetize future World Cup commercial rights.
Ceferin spearheaded UEFA's resistance in July against Infantino's proposal to sell at least 20% of FIFA's upcoming commercial rights to investors, a consortium led by Josh Kushner, brother of U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. The deal valued at USD 4.2 billion faced widespread opposition from European football bodies.
The blocked plan highlights tensions within global football governance over FIFA's financial strategies and commercial partnerships.
