Over 300 girl students protest against Ujjain school relocation to distant village

Over 300 girl students of Government Sarafa School in Ujjain staged a protest at the Administrative Complex on Friday, opposing the proposed relocation of the school to village Daudkhedi, approximately 8 km away. Students raised slogans and sat on dharna, with two students fainting during the agitation. The Joint Collector attempted to persuade them without success.
The relocation is part of arrangements for Simhastha Mahaparv-2028. Around 2,500-2,600 students from six government schools near Mahakaleshwar Temple would be affected. Protesting students and parents raised concerns about the distant location, poor transport connectivity, safety risks, and the presence of a liquor shop at the proposed site. Students from areas 25-30 km away expressed difficulty in accessing the new location.
