Ujjain Kshipra River Receives Narmada Water For October 10 Holy Dip

The Ujjain administration is supplying Narmada water to the Kshipra river through a pipeline to facilitate ritual bathing on October 10, which marks Shanishchari Amavasya and Sarva Pitru Amavasya. Water is being stored from Triveni to Gau Ghat and will be released before bathing begins at various ghats including Triveni and Ram Ghat. The supply began three to four days prior, with approximately 0.8 cusecs delivered daily, according to Municipal Corporation additional commissioner Pawan Singh.
Bathing is set to commence at midnight and continue until Saturday afternoon. Sprinklers have been installed along the ghats. The Narmada Valley Development Authority charges Rs 22.60 per 1,000 litres for the water supplied. This measure highlights the Kshipra's water challenges, as the river remains dependent on external sources just weeks after monsoon withdrawal.
Meanwhile, thousands of devotees thronged Siddhwat and Gayakotha on Friday during Ashwin Krishna Chaturdashi, seeking ancestral blessings. Queues stretched over one kilometre at both locations. Rituals including milk anointment, 'Chhappan Bhog' (56 offerings), 'Tarpan', and 'Pind Daan' were performed. On Saturday, Baba Siddhnath will receive 'Ashtameva Shringar' using eight varieties of dry fruits, marking the culmination of Sarva Pitru Amavasya celebrations.
