Ungma Senso Mongdang challenges NSCN (I-M) leaders over attack on Jamir

The Ungma Senso Mongdang, apex organisation of Ungma village in Nagaland, has objected to recent remarks by NSCN (I-M) leaders V.S. Atem and R.H. Raising against former chief minister and governor S.C. Jamir. The leaders had stated on September 16 that Jamir had "no mandate" to speak on Naga political matters and no right to address the Naga political solution.
In a statement, Senso officials questioned the locus standi of Atem and Raising, noting they are not indigenous to Nagaland and have no authority to challenge Jamir's mandate. The Senso described Jamir as a "bona fide indigenous citizen" and "true son of the soil" of Ungma, highlighting his stature as a former chief minister and Padma Bhushan awardee.
The village body recalled Ungma's historical role in the Naga political movement, including hosting the Second Naga People's Convention in 1958 and a Forum for Naga Reconciliation meeting in August 2025. It asserted that generations of Ungma residents had sacrificed for the Naga cause and questioned what contributions Atem and Raising had made.
