Uttar Pradesh to allocate ₹380 crore for new city development in Lucknow, Unnao and Rae Bareli

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved ₹380 crore as the first installment for development projects in Lucknow, Unnao and Rae Bareli on Tuesday. The funds are allocated under the Mukhyamantri Shahari Vistareekaran/Naye Shahar Protsahan Yojana scheme, launched in April 2023 to support planned urban expansion.
The initiative aims to accelerate land acquisition, new city development, and residential infrastructure expansion across the three districts. According to Special Secretary of Housing Rajesh Kumar Rai, the scheme responds to growing urban population and housing demand in the state.
Under the scheme, the government can provide up to 50 percent of land acquisition costs as seed capital, extending financial assistance over 20 years. This arrangement enables development authorities to systematically acquire land and develop comprehensive urban infrastructure for future residential needs.
