UP Health Minister Urges Doctors to Write Medicine Names in Hindi on Prescriptions

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Brajesh Pathak has urged doctors across the state to write medicine and test names in Hindi or Devanagari script on prescriptions. He believes this will help patients better understand their prescribed medications and tests.
Pathak also called on doctors to communicate with patients in their mother tongue or familiar local languages such as Bhojpuri and Awadhi. According to him, using languages patients easily understand can clarify medical advice, improve treatment compliance, and strengthen doctor-patient trust.
Pathak said he was making the appeal as both a government representative and a Hindi-speaking Indian. He cited Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's emphasis on Indian languages and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's use of Hindi in public communication, advocating for Hindi and indigenous languages to become regular in medical communication.
