Father and son arrested for killing UP priest over failed birth prediction

Police in Uttar Pradesh have arrested a father and son for the murder of a priest in a case stemming from a failed prediction. The priest had reportedly assured the family that they would have a son, but when a daughter was born instead, tensions escalated to violence.
The accused allegedly killed the priest over the broken promise, viewing it as a betrayal of trust and financial loss. The incident highlights ongoing social issues around gender preferences and reliance on unscientific predictions in certain parts of the state.
Investigations are underway to establish the full sequence of events leading to the crime. Police have registered a case against both accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
