UP Teachers to Receive Training on Girls' Self-Esteem, Safety and Gender Sensitivity

The Uttar Pradesh government has begun a two-day Master Trainer Training Programme under the Special Project for Equity, targeting 100 participants in two batches. The initiative aims to prepare 450 Master Trainers who will help create a school environment linked to girls' education, self-respect, safety, dignity and leadership abilities.
The training covers issues including appearance-based teasing, body image, social media influence and gender stereotypes. Four newly developed comic books serve as teaching resources to address these topics and improve girls' enrolment, attendance and participation in school activities.
The programme emphasizes formation of Meena Manch groups and training teachers in participatory facilitation through the STARS principles—listening to children safely, engaging without bias, valuing every voice and learning from experiences.
