UP Textile Conclave 2026: Industry Leaders Back State's Textile Manufacturing Push

Lucknow, September 8: Industry representatives at the UP Textile Conclave 2026 backed Uttar Pradesh's efforts to emerge as a major textile and technical textile hub. They highlighted the state's advantages including a strong industrial base, young workforce, rich textile heritage, and market access that could position it in the global textile supply chain.
Manoj Gupta, Chairman of MKU Limited, noted that Uttar Pradesh can become a hub for technical textiles and high-performance materials for the defense sector. He described the PM Mitra Mega Textile Park in Lucknow-Hardoi as a historic step. His group operates a manufacturing unit in the Kanpur Defense Corridor producing polyethylene-based fabric for bulletproof jackets and helmets.
Industrialists stressed that developing a complete textile ecosystem in the state—from high-performance fibres to finished products—would strengthen Atmanirbhar Bharat and reduce dependence on imports for strategic defense materials while creating investment and employment opportunities.
