US stock exchanges to launch overnight trading sessions from December
US equity exchanges will launch extended trading hours with an overnight session running from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., effective December 6. The move targets growing interest from foreign investors and aims to compete with cryptocurrency markets.
However, institutional investors have raised concerns about market liquidity and heightened risks during the overnight period. Pre-existing trading volume data suggests that institutional participation during night hours may remain limited, potentially affecting the viability of the new sessions.
