Wall Street Slips at Open as AI Worries Resurface and Oil Climbs

US stock markets began trading lower on Thursday, as renewed unease about the future of artificial intelligence put pressure on growth-oriented shares. Investors remained wary even after results from Tesla and Meta, which did little to calm concerns about AI-related prospects.
Adding to the downward pull, oil prices moved higher, deepening the sense of caution across the market. The combination of technology sector anxiety and costlier energy left major indices starting the session in negative territory.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped 1.48 percent in early trading. The benchmark S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average also slid at the open, reflecting broader weakness beyond the technology sector.
The decline underscores how sensitive markets remain to developments in artificial intelligence, particularly among companies whose valuations depend heavily on future growth expectations.
