UP Produces 60% of India's Mobile Phones, Eyes Microchip and AI Growth: CM Yogi

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday highlighted Uttar Pradesh's transformation in the technology sector since 2017. The state now accounts for nearly 60 per cent of India's mobile phone production and 55 per cent of electronics components, he stated on social media.
Yogi contrasted the current scenario with previous administrations, stating that earlier governments failed to utilise the state's potential and kept it trapped in the 'BIMARU' category. He credited the implementation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Make in India, Digital India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives for the progress.
Key developments include an HCL-Foxconn chip unit worth ₹3,706 crore being established in Jewar, and 644 MW of data centre proposals received. The state now has over 24,000 startups and eight unicorns, with the CM noting the progression from mobile phones to modules to microchips.
