Visakhapatnam faces severe rainfall deficit, water reserves strained

Visakhapatnam district is grappling with a severe rainfall shortfall this monsoon season. Data from the Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Information Management System (APWRIMS) shows the district received just 199.69 mm of cumulative rainfall between June 1 and September 11, against the normal expected benchmark of 479.49 mm.
This represents a deficit of 58 per cent for the period, putting pressure on the district's water reserves. The shortfall threatens to impact agricultural activities and municipal water supply in the region during the coming months.
