Warangal airport: Exclusivity waiver clears way after years of delay

The Warangal airport project has cleared a major hurdle after GMR, which operates Hyderabad airport, granted a one-time waiver of the 150-km exclusivity clause that had blocked the Telangana airport's development for years.
The exclusivity agreement had prevented any competing airport from operating within 150 kilometres of Hyderabad airport, effectively stalling Warangal's progress. The waiver now opens the path for the project to move forward.
Both the BJP and Congress are claiming credit for the development, sparking a political battle over who facilitated the breakthrough.
