West Discom nears 1 lakh rooftop solar installations milestone in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company (West Discom) is on track to reach 1 lakh rooftop solar installations by mid-October. The Malwa-Nimar service area has already surpassed 90,000 installations, with approximately 71,500 set up under the Centre's PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Indore district leads the region with nearly 31,000 installations, followed by Ujjain and Ratlam.
The discom has disbursed subsidies totalling over Rs 505 crore through direct benefit transfer to more than 66,000 consumers under the PM Surya Ghar scheme. Eligible consumers can receive subsidies up to Rs 78,000 depending on system capacity. These installations have generated approximately 240 MW under the scheme, with total rooftop solar capacity across the West Discom area reaching around 540 MW.
