World Bank Group mobilises $36 billion in India over four years, allocates $9.6 billion for MSMEs

The World Bank Group has mobilised $36 billion in India over a four-year period, with a significant portion earmarked for the MSME sector. Of this total, $9.6 billion has been allocated specifically to support micro, small and medium enterprises, reflecting the institution's focus on inclusive growth.
The increase in World Bank Group funding reflects rising investor confidence in development-linked investments within India. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) have played a key role in facilitating this capital flow by providing guarantees that reduce investment risks.
These guarantees have helped attract private funding alongside public resources, strengthening India's development financing landscape. The MSME allocation underscores the World Bank's commitment to supporting small business growth and employment generation across the country.
