Western Sümi Hoho urges appointment of Assistant Election Officer for Niuland district

Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has petitioned Nagaland's Chief Electoral Officer to appoint a dedicated Assistant Election Officer for Niuland district. The organisation cited administrative bottlenecks and unequal service delivery as key concerns.
Since Niuland was declared Nagaland's 14th district in December 2021, residents across 105 villages have lacked a dedicated electoral office. Citizens must travel outside district boundaries for voter registration, electoral corrections, and EPIC card updates.
WSH argued that without a dedicated AEO, the new district cannot provide accessible governance or strengthen grassroots democratic participation. The body called for immediate state intervention to establish electoral administration infrastructure in Niuland.
