Citizens' trust in constitutional institutions is democracy's greatest strength: UP CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Monday that ordinary citizens' trust in constitutional institutions forms the bedrock of democracy's strength. Addressing the 50th Foundation Day of the Lok Ayukta Organisation, he emphasized that any institution earning public trust cannot be prevented from progressing, and that good governance depends fundamentally on this confidence.
Yogi noted that the Constitution's framers adopted parliamentary democracy for India, where elected representatives must return to the people every five years. He stated that if representatives lose public trust, governments fall, and citizens retain the right to replace them. The Chief Minister stressed that the Constitution identified justice, truth, and equality as fundamental requirements, with justice's foundation resting on truth and merit-based complaint resolution.
