Yogi renames Atiq Ahmed's stronghold Kasari-Masari to Sri Krishnapuri

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the renaming of Kasari-Masari locality in Prayagraj to Sri Krishnapuri during a visit to the city. The locality, historically associated with slain gangster Atiq Ahmed, will now bear a name tied to Hindu religious significance.

The renaming initiative reflects the state government's effort to reshape the identity of areas previously linked to criminal elements. Kasari-Masari had long been known as a stronghold of Ahmed, who was killed in an alleged encounter in 2023.

The announcement comes as part of broader administrative and symbolic measures being undertaken in Prayagraj, one of Uttar Pradesh's significant cities.
