75-Year-Old Woman Loses Rs 2 Crore in 'Digital Arrest' Scam

A 75-year-old woman fell victim to a 'digital arrest' fraud and lost Rs 2 crore, according to an FIR filed in the case. On September 25, the woman received a call from an unidentified caller who identified himself as Sandeep Rao, a police officer from the Bombay Colaba Police.
The scammer used the fake authority to convince the victim of non-existent legal charges, a common tactic in digital arrest frauds. Such schemes typically trap senior citizens through threats and manipulation before extracting large sums of money.
