Over 80 lakh voters marked absent or shifted; only 6.66 lakh filed Form-6 applications

More than 80.62 lakh voters have been marked as absent or shifted in electoral rolls, yet only 6.66 lakh have submitted Form-6 applications to address their status. The Form-6 is the official application used to claim voting rights after relocation or to correct absent voter records.
When contacted, several affected voters said they were unaware of the September 23 deadline or the process to file the form. The large gap between displaced voters and those who have sought correction highlights a significant awareness gap among the electorate regarding electoral registration procedures.
