AAP's Lokpal promise unfulfilled as Punjab waits over a year

The Aam Aadmi Party, which won the Punjab assembly elections in March 2022 on a strong anti-corruption agenda, has not yet appointed a Lokpal for the state more than a year into its term. The Lokpal institution, designed to investigate corruption complaints against public officials, remains vacant.
AAP had made the establishment of a Lokpal a key electoral promise during its campaign. The delay in appointment raises questions about the government's follow-through on its flagship anti-corruption commitment, which was central to its electoral messaging.
