Speaker failed to conduct meaningful inquiry before accepting four MLAs' resignations: AIADMK whip tells Madras High Court
The AIADMK whip has moved the Madras High Court, challenging the Speaker's acceptance of four MLAs' resignations. According to the petition, the Speaker accepted the first three resignations just 85 minutes after they were submitted at 2:30 p.m., with approval granted at 3:55 p.m.
The whip argues this timeline demonstrates a violation of constitutional procedures, as the Speaker did not conduct a meaningful inquiry into the voluntary nature of the resignations as required by law. The petitioner contends the swift approval amounts to a sham compliance with constitutional mandates.
