Air raid sirens sound across India from Mumbai to Jaisalmer

Air raid sirens have been activated across several Indian cities, ranging from Mumbai on the west coast to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, signalling a nationwide civil defence exercise.
The sirens, which had largely fallen silent in recent decades, are being tested as part of India's civil defence preparedness protocols. The exercise covers major urban centres and strategic locations across the country.
Civil defence authorities use such drills to assess public awareness and response systems in the event of any emergency. These periodic exercises help maintain and update civil defence infrastructure and ensure readiness among both officials and citizens.
