Amit Shah Must Come to Parliament, Says Mahua Moitra Over July 20 Police Action

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Wednesday called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah to appear in Parliament and make a direct statement regarding the alleged police action against student protesters during the July 20 'Sansad Chalo' march at Jantar Mantar. Moitra said Shah, as Home Minister, knows the way to Parliament and no one is stopping him from making a statement.
Moitra alleged the opposition was seeking accountability from Shah over the use of force, including pellet guns, tear gas and lathi charges during the protest. She questioned who authorised the action and noted that the agencies involved—Delhi Police, CRPF and RAF—fall under the Union Home Ministry. Moitra accused Shah of avoiding Parliament while opposition MPs continued to attend and raise the issue.
She stressed the opposition wanted a specific explanation on responsibility for the police action, not a broader political speech. The remarks come amid disruptions during Parliament's Monsoon Session, with opposition parties pressing the government on multiple issues.
