Amit Shah Meets President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan Amid Cabinet Reshuffle Speculation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, a development that has intensified political speculation about a possible reshuffle of the Union Council of Ministers.
The meeting comes just two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi also called on the President, further fuelling discussions in political circles about impending changes in the central cabinet and organisational realignments within the ruling BJP.
The President’s office confirmed the meeting in a post on X, stating, “Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.” However, no further details of the discussion were officially disclosed.
The high-level meetings have drawn attention as several recent political developments suggest possible restructuring within the Union government. The BJP has not renominated some ministers to the Rajya Sabha after the completion of their terms, while others have been assigned key organisational roles in their respective states.
Among those affected, veteran BJP leader George Kurian from Kerala stepped down from the Council of Ministers after his Rajya Sabha tenure ended on June 21. He previously served as Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
Similarly, Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh has also not been renominated to the Upper House after his term concluded, despite holding responsibilities in multiple ministries.
In parallel developments, several Union ministers have recently been given important party assignments at the state level, adding to the perception that a broader organisational and ministerial reshuffle may be in the pipeline.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin had earlier appointed Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra as Delhi BJP chief, while Union Minister of State Pankaj Chaudhary was named head of the party’s Uttar Pradesh unit, further signalling internal restructuring within the party framework.
With both Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah meeting the President within a short span, and multiple changes already visible in ministerial and party roles, speculation continues to grow that a major reshuffle of the Union Council of Ministers could soon be announced.
